Is this in Tamil? I thought I recognized some Tamil.
Yes, this guy is just BS. She needs to just choose another person, not the same person in various ridiculous outfits.
@schmendriks
Yea… no. It’s not selling. If you’re talking about dowries, well that’s not originally an India thing. It came from Muslims, and then the English.
@schmendriks actually this comment shows you dont know anything about arranged marriages. In fact the groom’s side gives no money to the bride’s family whatsoever. The bride’s family gives money to the groom’s because the bride will then go and live with them, and the money helps lessen the burden. it is in no way selling your daughter. all it entitles is that both families accept a marriage, whereas the couple may not. i am not for arrange marriage, but i thought you’d like to know the truth.
@wiccanme82 Looking at it from a financial standpoint, you’re adding one more person into a family of many. Indian couples don’t live alone, they live with their parents,unmarried siblings, grandparents, and their aunts and uncles in ONE home that can be as little as two bedrooms. So the purpose of the money is so that in the beginning the money will help everyone accept the bride instead of straining for her – per tradition after marriage a bride doesnt work for 40 days, thats when money helps.
