Boating Safety – VHF Radios

Coast Guard personnel demonstrate how beneficial having a VHF radio can be through a reenactment of a boater in distress contacting the Coast guard for help. VHF radios, along with life jackets and EPIRBs, can help save your life while boating. (Coast Guard video/Petty Officer 3rd Class Nick Ameen, Petty Officer 2nd Class James Harless & Petty Officer 3rd Class Bary Bena)

I’d rather go down with the ship than let it be known that I called my boat ‘Afterparty’

What they didn’t show was that that guy was wasted and the reason he didn’t have a life raft was they left it behind in favor of a larger cooler.

Are Florida people aware that marine radios are not mandatory in Florida. Why is that? How safe are you in the water? In Florida not safe…We need stronger boating laws…make radio’s mandatory

    Did you know?
In Florida, only boaters 22 and under are forced to take boating classes. However, most accidents are commited by people 30 and over.

Did you know that you don’t need to have a radio on board? How do they call for help when cell phones don’t work.

Did you know that if you strike a manatee you pay thousands of dollars in fine and can even serve jail however, if a boater injures or kills someone in your family they are charged up to $250.00 in fines.

DId you know, that not even 9% of boaters out there have any boating safety devices such as Marine radio, cut off switches, propeller guards.

Did you know, 90 % of most accidents such as Ozzie and Monica Burguera were preventable just by drivers taking boating courses.

Did you know, boaters don’t have to carry boating insurance.

Did you know that on boats ththere are no open container laws like they exist in cars today.

Did you know, that there is no such thing as a boating license. Alabama is the only state that thanks to Former Commissioner Charles Grimsley changed and is now mandatory for all boaters to take a course.

Now, tell me how save is your daughter, brother or friend?

Would you let them go out on a boat again?
