It seems that whenever a nursing infant fusses or passes gas, people blame the mother’s diet. Let’s find out whether that type of thinking is accurate.

True or false?
Nursing moms need to avoid “gassy” foods.
Nursing moms must never drink alcohol, caffeinated or carbonated beverages.
Nursing moms have to stay away from spicy foods.
Nursing moms should cut out dairy products and peanuts to avoid allergies.

Would you be surprised to learn that all the above statements are false? Let’s take down these common myths about breastfeeding women and diet, one by one.

For years, breastfeeding women have been warned that so called “gassy” foods like beans, cabbage, onions, broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables would cause their babies to have painful gas. Not only does this statement needlessly restrict a new mom’s diet, it also decries a lack of understanding about the simple mechanics of lactation.

While some of these foods may cause gas in the mother, it is because of undigested carbohydrates (otherwise known as fiber!) in her digestive tract. These carbohydrates cannot pass through the mother’s milk ducts and get into her milk, so it’s actually impossible for these foods to cause gas in a baby, unless he is allergic to that food, which is extremely rare for these types of foods (the common allergens are by far eggs, dairy, soy and wheat). Gassiness and fussiness may be related to strong milk ejection reflex (also called the “letdown”) in the mother. Baby struggles to handle the flow of milk and so swallows a lot of air. Thorough burping may help, as well as wearing a baby upright in a sling during and after feedings.

Obviously it wouldn’t be appropriate for breastfeeding moms to drink large amounts of alcohol, primarily because it would impair her ability to care for her child properly. However, a glass of wine with dinner is not going to harm the breastfed infant. In the same vein, most babies are not bothered when mom drinks a cup or two of a caffeinated drink. Watch the baby for signs of irritability, and cut back if you think baby is sensitive to the caffeine in your milk. Since the bubbles that make carbonated drinks fizzy also cannot pass through to her milk, carbonated drinks (while not particularly healthful) won’t harm the breastfed infant. Mothers can’t make fizzy milk!

The third piece of advice, to avoid spicy foods, seems patently ridiculous when given some thought. How many millions of women the world over, eat many spicy foods as the bulk of their diet? Do they have fussy babies who suffer from painful gas? The evidence doesn’t support that. In fact the truth may actually be the opposite! More than one study has shown that babies actually preferred the taste of garlic in their mother’s milk and suckled longer, taking in more milk. There is simply no evidence that a nursing mom must eat a bland diet.

What about dairy products, peanuts and other common allergens? Many breastfeeding experts believe that nursing moms should not needlessly restrict their diets. Life with a new infant is challenging enough. Learning to breastfeed and recuperating from birth can be stressful. Why add to that by telling mothers to make radical changes? The one scenario that may support mom adopting a strict allergy free diet would be if she has a strong family history of food allergy and if her baby is showing signs of allergy, including excema, extreme fussiness, vomiting, slimy (mucusy), bloody or foamy stools, and other symptoms. Keeping a detailed food diary may be the best course of action to help her decipher what foods may be causing her infant trouble.

One final note: Although postpartum mothers are often told to keep taking prenatal vitamins after their babies are born, these can and do sometimes cause uncomfortable symptoms in nursing babies. This is often due to the iron content in the supplement, which causes pain in the infant. If your baby seems to be in pain, try dropping the vitamins for a week and see if that makes a difference.

The bottom line is, breastfeeding mothers should continue eating the same healthy diet focusing on a wide variety of whole foods that they enjoy, just as they did while they were pregnant. Listening to your body and eating and drinking to hunger and thirst will ensure new moms get the nutrition they need in order to care for themselves and their infants.

Plugged ducts and mastitis are two of the most common challenges that a breastfeeding mom may face while nursing her baby. Since the two conditions are so similar, we’ll discuss them both here. First we’ll discuss what can lead to a plugged duct (which when untreated often leads to mastitis) and how to prevent it, and what to do if you have symptoms.

A plugged duct is literally that – a milk duct in the breast that becomes “stuck” with milk. It is not being drained properly due to: an ill fitting (too tight or underwire) bra; not nursing often enough; a baby who is not sucking well at the breast; not varying the position of the baby while feeding; baby carriers that put pressure on the breasts; even the mother’s sleeping position.

It may present as a hard, red sore spot on the breast, or mom may not have any external symptoms. She may just have discomfort in an area of her breast. She may also notice a white dot on the end of her nipple with what looks like thickened or hardened milk or a small pimple.

To prevent plugged ducts, it’s important to make sure baby is latching on to the breast well and mom is not uncomfortable during feedings. There shouldn’t be anything pinching or pressuring her breast. Nursing frequently to “empty” the breast well (since the nursing breast is never truly empty) is important to avoid mom getting overly full. Nursing moms should avoid sleeping on their stomachs or in another position that squeezes the breast for a long period of time if they have frequent plugged ducts. The same would be true of underwire bras. Some moms just can’t use them.

If you notice symptoms of a plugged duct, take action immediately. This condition can frequently lead to mastitis, which can make a mom feel as if she’s been hit by a truck! Some steps to take to treat a plugged duct:

* Nurse frequently.
* Before nursing, use warm compresses to soften the breast. During the feeding, try gentle massage (starting at the top of the chest above the sore area and moving down towards the nipple).
* Change the position of the baby so that his/her chin is pointing towards the sore spot. This might take some flexibility! The reason for this is because the baby’s suck is strongest at that point and can drain the plugged duct more effectively.
* Get in the shower and let the hot water run down the chest. Repeat the massage. This one step has been a lifesaver for moms who are in pain with a plugged duct. Often it will open up and mom will notice thickened milk or even “crystals” coming from her nipple. This is a good thing. This thickened milk will not harm the baby either.
* Tylenol and Motrin are safe for nursing moms to use if the pain is bad.
* Get lots of rest. The best course of action is to take baby to bed immediately and encourage him/her to nurse frequently. Take naps and spend the majority of the day in bed if at all possible.

These tips will usually mean the problem will resolve in a day or two, maybe sooner. If you develop fever and chills and the plugged duct doesn’t resolve, it may have turned into mastitis. Mastitis feels like the flu, but it’s not life threatening, neither is weaning necessary or even recommended since it would only make the problem worse.

The same tips listed above will help mastitis. In addition, you can call your Doctor and ask for antibiotics, which may be helpful if you have been exposed to some other illness. For some reason, if other family members are ill with a cold or flu or other infection, the nursing mom will sometimes come down with mastitis. This is especially true if she has been doing too much and denying herself proper rest.

Plugged ducts and mastitis don’t need to be the end of the nursing experience. With the right information and support, it’s just a stepping stone.

?Once in a while, we are all going to experience anger. It is a natural part of being human and is a healthy part of human emotions. But harboring and simmering in the feelings of anger will make it hard for a person to move on beyond the anger. This could make anger linger for years and could take over your entire life.

The best thing to do is to let go of your anger. It does not mean that you should ignore your hurt feelings, it means having to acknowledge your angry emotions. You should feel angry, deal with your emotions but do not let it control you.

Simmering in anger would only make you stay angry for a long period of time. For some, it could make the person angry for years. It would only lead to physical deterioration. Angry emotions do take its toll on the person. It would lead to depression, high blood pressure, stroke and heart ailments.

Allow yourself to feel angry. Give yourself time to acknowledge your anger. Provide a proper venue for your anger, stay in an isolated space or room by yourself and pour all your angry emotions out by hitting a pillow or writing all your aggression on a piece of paper and ceremoniously burn the paper along with all your feelings of anger along with it. Put on some heavy metal music and dance your angriness away until you are exhausted. Do everything you can to get it out of your system, but never take it out on any one. This would only lead to more conflict and create more tension than was to begin with.

Let all your angry energy out, do not hold anything in. Strive to be a better person by forgiving yourself for being angry in the first place. Allow yourself to be just human. Make a conscious effort to be calm and stay calm when dealing with other people. This may take time and lots of practice. If you do try to be conscious with your efforts, this could lead to less spontaneous outbursts from you and other inappropriate comments that may only hurt others around you.

Even when you feel you have calmed down sufficiently enough to be able to face the world again, always try to stay positive about the situation. Do not dwell on the negative aspects of the argument or conflict. Try to resolve the conflict and work through your aggression. Stay focused, remember you are working to solve the issues at hand, not retaliate or get personal with the offending party.

Whatever problem you two may be having, remember that you are trying to be a better person and building a better life for yourself. Rise above petty and hurtful remarks, and do your best to forgive even if you do not think the other person deserves it. It will be easier for the person to let go of anger once he has expressed himself and made himself and his frustrations understood.

?Anger management is something which you have to learn at all costs in order to be successful within your both professional and personal life. In order to master the art of anger management, you need to aware of some effective anger management activities and techniques which you can implement in situations where you feel that you are in a state of anger.

There are several anger management activities which you can implement in order to overcome your anger but at the same time, you must also know that anger management activities differs from one another, so you has to be aware of the specific activity which you need to follow in a specific situation. Anger management activities are considered to be very effective when it comes to managing anger because with the help of these activities you can divert your mind from the situation or incident that is making you angry towards other things. So, just for your concern, following are some simple yet effective anger management activities which you can follow in specific situations in order to cope up with your anger.

If you are recalling something within your mind and that recall is making you angry then in order to divert your mind from the recall, you must start doing something else immediately. For instance, you can start eating or you can also starting watching TV for the purpose as well.

Another effective anger management activity which is considered to be the most appropriate one to implement when you are in a state of anger is singing a song. It might sound a bit confusing to you that how singing can help you manage your anger? Singing is something that can help you overcome your stress. It has been scientifically proven that when an individual is in the state of anger, he/she is also in the state of stress as well and singing is something that can reduce the level of stress in a quick period of time. The more the level of your stress will reduce, the more the level of your anger will reduce as well.

Relaxation techniques can also be applied as anger management activities as well. Whenever you are in a state of anger, you can start practicing some yoga or meditation techniques in order to provide relaxation to both you mind and your body as well.

Above mentioned are some effective anger management activities which you can implement whenever you feel that you are in a state of anger.

?With acne being the number one skin condition in the world it’s clear that it’s a very common condition that basically everyone is prone too. Throughout your life you should expect that you’ll have at least a mild case of acne at one point in time. Some people will have a rougher time with acne and may have serious cases of it throughout teenage years and young adulthood. The percentage for teenagers getting acne is anywhere from 80-90% and the chances of an adult having acne is 10% which if you think about it is a fairly high number. Most adults won’t suffer from severe acne problems but there is a good chance you’ll experience minor cases.

Acne can be seen on both male and females equally and typically there isn’t any one sex that is less or more prone to the skin condition. Babies are also susceptible to acne so you need to ensure you clean the babies face often as well to keep pores open and unclogged.

Where Can Acne Be Seen?

Generally acne will become a problem on the face and this is where 90% of people experience acne. Acne can however develop anywhere where there are sebaceous glands present. This means that your chest, back, legs and arms are all susceptible to acne. This is why it’s so important to keep your body clean and why most men and women are now not only using soaps to clean themselves but also body washes. There are men and women body washes available and I would recommend using one to ensure you don’t get acne anywhere on your body.

When Is Acne Most Susceptible To You?

Acne can hit you when you’re a baby or a senior so there isn’t anytime you can’t get acne which is a huge bummer in my mind but there isn’t anything that can be done about it. However, most people will get acne once they hit puberty and from there it can last anywhere from 1-20 years. Some people have severe acne cases and these people will most likely have to deal with the skin condition for a longer period of time. People who only get minor cases of acne may only need to deal with the condition for a short period of time. It’s usually up to how well you cleanse your face, but some people who cleanse daily still have problems ridding their face of acne. It can become a serious issue once you reach your teenage years and young adulthood because most people with severe become depressed.

How’s Acne Affect You?

Well acne has the power to affect you in many ways with the obvious being severe discomfort. When you have acne it can feel really weird on the skin and it can also tighten the skin up. As the acne dries up it becomes easy for it to disappear, but while it’s fresh it can shoot out pus and blood at any moment. You can also get acne scars from picking acne when it’s in its fresh state and you should avoid picking any acne at all costs because acne scars are terribly difficult to get rid of.

Acne also can cause depression and low self-esteem and many people are faced with this issue. Throughout highschool many people are made fun of due to acne and this puts a huge negative effect on the teenager. Acne can literally ruin some people’s lives if they let it affect them but you shouldn’t feel embarrassed because roughly 90% of people deal with acne.

?There are some instances where acne becomes disrupted and therefore worsens on your skin and you should make sure you read all of the ways this happens because this is the last thing you’ll want. Acne is hard enough to get rid of without the worry of having it worsened due to something that you’ve done, so make sure you read this part of the guide carefully and thoroughly so you grasp a firm understanding.

Food

Eating food with high amounts of sugar can cause acne to become a lot worse on the skin and many of people have complained of other foods making acne worse as well but there is nothing scientific proving these statements yet.

Make-Up

Some make-up and cosmetics that are used daily by people can cause acne to sprout at an unbelievable rate. Most people don’t face this issue but some are susceptible to this occurrence and need to prepare for it. If you notice you’re getting blackheads on your face from the cosmetic products you’re using then you might need to switch to oil-free cosmetics or non-acnegenic cosmetics.

Excessive Washing

Never wash your face with force and always show lots of gentleness and care when you’re in fact washing your face. You should not over wash your skin because this will cause redness and acne to begin to appear. Using force once acne appears on the skin is also bad because then the acne with usually pop causing acne scars. Also be gentle when cleaning your face and never use excessive force.

Sweating

Many outdoor and indoor activities and sports cause people to sweat and for many also work outdoors and sweat constantly. Sweating can make acne worsen by up to 15% and also makes you a lot more susceptible to more acne on the skin. If you sweat excessively throughout the day then consider using a head band to properly protect yourself and your skin.

Stress

During stressful times of people’s lives they are more prone to getting acne, well that’s at least according to a survey done but nothing scientific has been proven that stress influences acne.

Picking/Squeezing

Picking and squeezing at your acne is the absolute worst thing to do and this is the number way to worsen your acne quickly. If you pick your acne you’ll be very prone to getting acne scars which can cause lifetime marks on your skin. Picking acne also doesn’t remove it, you’ll only remove the pus and blood but it’s likely the acne will reappear in a matter of days.

?Getting Acquainted: Some Popular Breast Enhancers

The mainstream media such as television, magazines, and the Internet all feature countless advertisements in which companies push their ‘miracle pills’ that help to naturally promote breast growth. These pills generally consist of a mixture of all-natural herbs that form a concoction to spark growth. However, the problem is, some brands work while others do not. Below are a few brands that have shown the potential to generate growth in the discontented woman’s breast size.

Bloussant

A breast enhancement pill known as Bloussant uses the following ingredients to achieve results:

Watercress (Leaf)
Blessed Thistle (Leaf)
Dandelion (Root)
Saw Palmetto Extract (Leaf)
Fennel Seed (Fruit)
Don Quai (Leaf)
Damiana (Leaf)
Black Cohosh (Alternative to Hormone)
Wild Yam (Root)

The blend attempts to re-active the breast tissues such as prostaglandin by creating a “second puberty.” While this is not a fully appropriate term to use, the prostaglandin generally shuts off after puberty and continues its dormancy unless re-stimulated by Bloussant. It generally takes one to three months to see any visible change, but at the end, average results range from one half to two full cup sizes. Continued use has resulted in as much as a three-cup increase. The company claims that the only known side effects are some minor allergic reactions, but generally research on these pills shows that rarer, more severe risks exist.

Natural Curves

Natural Curves contain the following ingredients blended into their pill:

Bioperine
Panax Ginseng
Soy Isoflavones
Fenugreek Seed (Seed)
Black Cohosh (Seed)
Fennel Seed (Seed)
Chasteberry Root (Root)
Saw Palmetto (Berry)
Damiana (Leaf)
Dong Quai (Root)
Dandelion (Root)
Blessed Thistle (Leaf)
Kava Kava (Root)
Wild Yam (Root)
Mother’s Wart (Leaf)

Like Bloussant, these ingredients can create results in as little as thirty days. The company claims its product as the most potent and least expensive formula on the market today. They assert the same side effects as Bloussant, but the same disclaimer as above applies.

NewBust Breast Enhancement

All of these pills follow the same pattern as you probably have noticed. As such, here are the ingredients that result in this particular blend of breast enhancement:

Althea Root
Hops
Wild Yam
Fennel Seed
Saw Palmetto
Don Quai
Damiana
Foenugreek Seed
Blessed Thistle
Violet

In addition to the increase in breast size, NewBust also declares the following benefits that result in using their product: A revitalized sex drive, more beautiful hair and nails, feeling of satisfaction in fitness, positive frame of mind, improved skin, fewer menopausal symptoms, and relief from occasional vaginal dryness. They do not list any side effects, and coupling that with all of the benefits they claim, be cautious of using this product without further research.

These are three of the top natural breast enhancers on the market. All have a track record of providing results in growing breast size for unsatisfied females. However, further research on the ingredients put into the pills would be a good idea. A check with your doctor would help you to decide if any of these products are right for you.

?Welcome to the acne guide you’re most likely reading this because you suffer from acne and need help to find the right treatment for your skin condition, and thankfully that’s what you’re going to learn in this enormous guide on acne. It’s often mistaken that acne is solely a skin condition that affects teenagers but it can also affect babies and adults, which means absolutely nobody is prone from getting acne. Most people will suffer from acne in their life and it’s the most common skin condition that humans get. A lot of people are embarrassed about acne on their face and some people won’t even be seen in public if they have a pimple on their face. There is no reason why you should feel embarrassed because acne almost affects everyone at least once.

The way you treat your skin on a daily basis will greatly affect how prone your skin is to acne and some people who cleanse and exfoliate on a daily basis won’t ever get acne. If you don’t cleanse your face often then you’ll be very susceptible to acne, and you should make sure you clean more often. When you’re a teenager it’s most important to keep a solid grasp on cleaning your face with more then just soap, you should be using lotions and creams to protect your skin from acne.

Treatments for acne are abundant in today’s market but finding the right combination of products to use can be very difficult. In the guide we will discuss which acne treatment products you should be utilizing in your daily life to make sure you’re controlling your acne.

You can also prevent acne from developing in many different ways and we’ll also discuss all of these matters throughout the guide. If you haven’t a clue about acne then after reading this guide I assure you you’ll have a firm grasp on everything to do with acne. Considering acne is such a common skin condition most of you will need to learn the tips I talk about in order to help get rid of acne at one in point or another in your life.

I will do my best to ensure that the guide isn’t too boring and I will also try my best to utilize pictures and other media throughout the guide. If you’re someone currently suffering from acne or you know someone suffering from acne and would like to help them then make sure to read this guide in its entirety. There isn’t a ton of information to discuss, but there is a good amount of information that needs to be discussed so that you have a solid enough understanding about this common skin condition.

?Acne is by a far stretch the most common skin condition that a baby, child, teenager or adult can get and humans are always prone to acne. Almost everyone will experience acne at one point or another and when this time comes you’ll need to know the basics of acne. Acne can pop-up anytime, but throughout your teenage years your skin is most prone to acne and you need to take special precautions. People who have severe acne often become really low on themselves and there confidence drops drastically. Acne in severe cases can also cause people to become depressed and full of anxiety.

Teenagers have the biggest troubles dealing with acne and it’s because teenagers are very prone to acne but they often don’t know how to get rid of it. When you do nothing about developing acne, it can soon develop into a full fledged case of acne which covers your entire face. When you have acne this severe it can be rather difficult to treat and often you’ll need to consult a professional.

Visible Signs of Acne Development

There are five unique visible signs that you’re developing acne and you should understand those five development signs before moving on with any treatment. It’s important to know all the small details before moving onto the big ones and this is why we’re going to discuss the visible signs of acne.

The first visible sign of acne is comedones which are caused from the blocking of pores. Usually this will happen in an isolated area of the skin and it won’t look very red at this point. If you’re in this stage of visibility then you should try maintaining a strict cleaning regiment to enforce the removal of acne and the opening of pores.

The second visible sign of acne is papules and pustules this is the stage where the comedones become a lot more inflamed and red in appearance. The acne will also begin to sprout into more then one blemish. In this stage the acne is worsening but there is still time before you need to worry.

Some people will develop the third stage of visibility rather then the second stage and this stage is called nodules, which is where deep lumps appear. These can also be known as cysts, and typically will cause some pain to the person due to the deepness of the acne. You should use lotions and creams at this point on infected areas of the skin to assist you with removing the nodule or cyst.

The fourth stage of visibility will be really shiny appearing skin, and when touched will feel really oily. You should make sure you’re cleaning your face enough if it becomes oily as this is one of the latest stages of development and oily skin causes acne to sprout a lot quicker.

The above stages are all visible signs that you’re attracting acne and you should begin to make sure you’re cleansing your face enough and also make sure you begin experimenting with different products. It can take years to find the right product for your skin, but once you do you’ll notice it takes a lot less work and time to keep your skin in a healthy condition. A lot of products have good strengths but everyone has different skin so it’s hard to judge on the perfect products to use for acne treatment on your skin, this is why you need to do the experimenting on your own.

?Taking Stock of What Makes You Tick

One of the best ways of keeping your anger under control is through keeping tabs of what triggers the angry response from you. Not knowing what makes you react angrily would not help you control your emotions. Keep track of the daily things that gnaw away at your patience or might otherwise solicit an unprecedented reaction from you.

Pay attention to situations that may trigger negative feelings. Keep a daily memo of everyday scenario as soon as the feelings of emotional anger surface. Make sure you carry a notepad for taking down notes throughout the day. Make special notice of the time of day you are prone to be shorter tempered than usual.

Triggers may come in the form of persons. Try to notice if it is just one particular person or if it is a group of people that make you angry. If it is just the same person, be aware of the situation in general. Does the person make you angry because they are purposely making you angry or if it is just the annoyance of having the person around.

This should at least give you awareness to avoid the person in the future, or if avoidance is not possible, awareness will at least keep you on guard for any emotional response from you and perhaps you would be better equipped in handle matters of conflict.

Sometimes anger may be a response to situations. Traffic jams, for example or long lines at the DMV are usual unavoidable circumstances. Venting your anger on some one will not solve your problem as the problem does not lay on any single person, but on the whole situation.

Make special note if it is one particular situation or a variety of situations altogether that make you lose control. Perhaps the trigger may be in the common events that arise in different situations, like long lines in particular whether in the grocery, the bank or at the movie theatre. If you can not avoid the same situation that could trigger an angry response from you, at least you should be aware that you could potentially have an emotional outburst during this time.

Some triggers may not be in the form of people or situations. Sometimes the culprit may lie in things, like machines that do not work when you need it the most, or computer glitches. We have all lost our temper one time or another when dealing with machines that just refuse to work with us. Perhaps it is high time to get your computer upgraded, or junk that paper copier and get a new one. If not, then you could perhaps ask someone to assist you and you could avoid the situation altogether.

Make special note of the time of day when the outburst occurred. Some people are just hot tempered during particular times and being aware of the time when you could be more vulnerable to angry attacks could help you avoid the situation in the future. If you notice that you are especially hot tempered after lunch, for example, then you could perhaps take this cue and take a short nap after lunch hours, just to skip the angriest part of your day. Or make this time an alone time, giving you time to relax and take a break from people, things or situations.Grinder
