The Plaza de la Constitucion or Zocalo
Considered as the main square of Mexico City?s historic center, the Plaza
de la Constitucion is the second largest public square of the world after
Moscow?s Red Square. Anyone visiting Mexico City can simply not avoid
visiting this heart of city. Be it the protests, festivals or events,
this site has witnessed it all in Mexico.
Cathedral Metropolitana
Built some 250 years ago, Cathedral Metropolitana presents a mixture of
architecture styles. Other than its beauty, the fact that like many other
historical buildings, this one too is slowly sinking into the ground
makes its all the more worth a visit. In 1990s, an extensive engineering
project was performed on this structure so that it sinks in the ground
uniformly.
Palacio Nacional
Having a perfect location towards the ease side of Zocalo, this one is a
government building that stores the federal treasury and national
archives. When you visit Palacio Nacional, make sure to have a look at
its main attraction called Diego Rivera?s mural?s, which depicts the rich
history of Mexico.
Museo Nacional de Antropologia
Museo Nacional de Antropologia has been dedicated to the cultural regions
of Mesoamerica. This museum is located in Chapultepec Park and is known
to house the most impressive collection of Mesoamerican artifacts. Don?t
miss watching the Aztec exhibit the popular Sun Stone at this museum.
Xochimilco
Enjoy riding on the beautifully colored boats along the canals at
Xochimilco or the ?floating gardens? of the Aztecs. This beautiful land

Bacilica de Guadalupe
Basilica de Guadalupe is the most religious site of Mexico. Situated on a
hill that appeared to Juan Diego, this holy place is devoted to
Guadalupe, the patroness of Mexico and also an important national symbol.
When you visit this place, watch out for the mantle of Juan Diego with
her image.
Teotihuacan
Though located some 25 miles outside Mexico City, Teotihuacan is a
popular archaeological site of Mexico. Also referred to as ?the city of
the gods?, this place was once a huge urban center occupied by a major
population between 200 BC and 800 AD. Watch out for the Temple pf
Quetzalcoatl and climb the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon
from this place in Mexico.
Templo Mayor
Templo Mayor or the Great Temple is a temple dedicated to Tlaloc, the god
of rain in Mexico. This is a temple cum museum that exhibits a stunning
stone sculpture that showed an interesting scale model of the Mexico City
in the ancient times. This is a place of both religious as well as
archaeological relevance.
