The Jungle Book

A boy raised by wolves tries to adapt to human village life; tenuously based on Kipling’s stories.

This is fantastic — the complete original Korda production of Kipling’s “Jungle Book”, a real classic that’s too often overlooked in favor of the tepidly-hip Disney animated version. Sabu’s best performance, IMHO (or at least a tie with his role in “Thief of Baghdad”). Miklos Rosza’s magnificent musical score, one of his greatest, really focuses the soul of this wonderful film, and is always a delight to hear. A marvelous classic!

I’m surprised; I always gave the creative genius to Disney. Guess I was wrong. Although Disney’s animated version is fun and entertaining this 1945 version is the heart of the story.
